Student Direct Edu Solutions Inc (we, us, or our) provides a platform for international students to explore academic and career opportunities in Canada. We offer resources on student visas, program details, and admissions assistance through our network of recruitment partners, counselors, and our website. Additionally, we connect users with valuable services and products relevant to the international student experience (collectively, the “Services”). The effective date of this policy is April 4, 2024.

5. We reserve the right to update this Agreement to reflect changes in our practices. Any revisions will be effective as of the listed date. Your continued use of our services after the update signifies your acceptance of the revised Agreement.

6. Student Direct Edu adheres to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the primary federal law governing privacy in Canada. PIPEDA establishes guidelines for how organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information. 

7. Our sites and services are not intended for people under the age of 13, and we will not knowingly collect information about people under the age of 13. By using our website and Services, you are representing that you are at least 18, or that you are at least 13 years old and have your parents’ or guardians’ permission to use website and our related services. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

       2. Third-Party Sources: With your consent (where applicable), we may collect data from trusted partners like marketing affiliates, service providers for identity verification and fraud prevention, or other Student Direct Edu clients involved in their own generated leads.  In such instances, we will determine whether we would have been entitled to collect such information from you, and to the extent we would not have been entitled to do so, we will destroy or de-identify such information as soon as reasonably practical.

       3. Website & Service Usage: We utilize cookies and metadata collection to gather information about your activity on our website and services. This may include details like domain name, browser type, visited pages, clicked links, IP address, and time spent using our platform. The personal information we collect is shared solely with Student Direct and our trusted third-party service providers who act as data processors to deliver the services you request. This information is never shared or used for any other purpose.

Here’s a breakdown of the categories of personal data we typically collect, where permitted by applicable laws:

       1. Identifying Information Name, email address, phone number, billing or mailing address, IP address, date of birth. National identification numbers and documents containing your photograph or government ID may also be collected.

       2. Professional Information: Name, contact details, professional credentials and skills, educational and work history, salary, evaluations, references, interviews, certifications, disciplinary matters, and other information typically found on a resume, CV, or cover letter. 

       3. Financial Information Bank and credit account information, credit history, and details of transactions made through our services.

       4. Health InformationName, email address, phone number, billing or mailing address, IP address, date of birth. National identification numbers and documents containing your photograph or government ID may also be collected.

       5. Location Data: Your location, either directly from you or through your use of our mobile app or third-party analytics tools and cookies.

       6. Other Information: Any additional information you voluntarily provide, such as when you contact us via email.

 

Why Do We Collect Your Information?

Student Direct collects and processes your personal data for specific reasons, always with a legal basis and a clear purpose. Here’s a breakdown:

       1. Fulfilling Agreements We process your data to fulfill our contractual obligations to you, such as providing full access to our services and managing your application process.

       2. Service Improvement and Development: We analyze and improve our services based on a legitimate interest that outweighs your privacy right. This helps us provide a better user experience. 

       3. Communication and Support We process your data to communicate with you and provide support.

       4. Informing Educational Institutions We share your interest in specific programs with educational institutions to facilitate your application process.

       5. Legal Compliance:  We may process your data to comply with legal requirements and fulfill our legal obligations.

 

Who Do We Share Your Data With?

When you use our services, we may need to share your personal information with various partners:

       1. Educational InstitutionsYour application information is shared directly with the schools you choose, potentially through a third-party intermediary. Once shared, Student Direct has no control over how schools handle your data. We recommend contacting them directly for any inquiries regarding their data practices.

       2. Service ProvidersTo operate our platform effectively, we may share your personal data with trusted service providers. These providers handle tasks like email communication, website hosting, data storage (including cloud providers), and specific platform functionalities. We only share the necessary information for their designated functions and enforce strict contractual agreements to protect your data security. Examples of service providers includes cloud-based providers for email and data storage, cybersecurity companies for data protection, financial institutions for payment processing, identity verification services, and customer care service.

 

How Long Do We Retain Your Data?

Your personal data will not be stored for longer than is necessary with regards to the purposes of the processing. We have internal routines that ensure this, and we make sure to delete personal data no later than two years after you have used our services.
